About Midface Lift
As you age, the skin's natural elastin and collagen production begin to decrease, resulting in visible sagging of the skin and wrinkles that develop. If you're beginning to notice loose skin around your cheeks and lower face, then board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeon Dr. Andrea Basile recommends a midface lift to help correct these issues. With a similar approach to the mini facelift, the surgery known as a midface lift at Basile Plastic Surgery addresses the hollow and lax areas close to the cheekbones as well as the upper jaw. The mid facelift works well for those who hope to attain improvement of the middle to lower region of the face, which also improves the look of the jowls without having to revert to a full facelift. If this sounds like the right procedure for you, then we can help create your custom treatment plan at our Naples, FL practice. Call us today to schedule your consultation.
Ideal Candidates
A midface lift is a good alternative for patients who are looking to only address the mid to lower portion of their face and are not in need of a full facelift. This treatment is effective at tightening the drooping skin that can develop around the cheekbones, jowls, and neck area in some cases. A midface lift can be performed on both men and women of all ages and is not exclusively for patients who are older in age. Anyone looking to refresh their appearance and address subtle to more severe signs of aging can benefit from this surgery.

Surgical Technique
A midface lift procedure is performed either under deep sedation and local anesthesia, or a light general anesthesia may be used if needed. It is generally an outpatient treatment, and the length of the surgery will usually take less than an hour. During the surgery, Dr. Basile will make incisions behind the sideburns and in the nasolabial folds. The cheek will then be pulled back up to its original position, elevating and tightening the skin to reveal a more youthful look. The sutures will be placed deep into the fat pad. If other areas of the face are being addressed such as the jowls and neck region, then a similar process will take place.
What to Expect
Bruising and swelling are usually minor after this procedure, but you will feel tightness in your face. It usually takes around a week for patients to heal and begin to return to their normal activities. You should expect your full results to be visible in about 4 – 6 months following the surgery. Overall, this procedure tightens and smoothes the appearance of nasolabial folds, and also corrects the vertical lines that run downward from the mouth and on the sides of the chin.
Elevate Your Appearance
Droopy skin around the cheeks and chin can cause you to look years older than you actually are, and it may cause self-esteem issues as well. With a midface lift, you can elevate the skin and tighten the loose areas through a short procedure that is less invasive than a full facelift but longer lasting than injectable treatments or other nonsurgical options. If you're ready to take your appearance to the next level, then we invite you to call our Naples, FL office to schedule your consultation with Dr. Basile. We look forward to helping you take this next step.
