About Axillary Hyperhidrosis

Axillary Hyperhidrosis refers to excessive sweating in the armpits (axilla), which is a common form of localized hyperhidrosis. It occurs when the sweat glands in the underarms produce more sweat than needed to regulate body temperature, even in the absence of heat or physical exertion.

Symptoms of Axillary Hyperhidrosis:

  • Excessive sweating: Sweat may soak through clothing, even in cool or non-stressful situations.

  • Visible sweat stains: Large, noticeable patches of wetness on clothes, often under the arms.

  • Body odor: Due to the bacteria that thrive in the damp environment created by excessive sweating.

  • Social and emotional distress: Many individuals with axillary hyperhidrosis experience embarrassment or anxiety due to visible sweat marks.
