Tighten and Contour Your Arms With a Brachioplasty

We all have areas on our bodies that seem impervious to exercise and healthy eating habits. Our upper arms are no exception. Extra pockets of fat and excess or loose skin can create flabby and unattractive arms. This can make us feel self-conscious when wearing short-sleeved shirts, tank tops, bathing suits, or strapless dresses. A surgical arm lift, or brachioplasty, can provide some much needed shaping to your upper arms and give you the confidence to leave them bare.

How Can a Brachioplasty Help Me?

The procedure is similar to a tummy tuck. A plastic surgeon can eliminate those stubborn fat deposits, reduce the amount of excess skin, then tighten and smooth out the remaining skin tissue all in one appointment. After recovery, your arms will look naturally more contoured and toned.

How Long Is the Brachioplasty Recovery?

In total, the recovery process will take at least six to eight weeks. You’ll be sore for the first several days; the doctor will prescribe some pain medication to support you. There will also be some bruising and swelling for the first couple weeks. You will keep your arms elevated while in bed. You will also avoid lifting heavy objects as much as possible for about a month. You will be able to return to non-strenuous work after 7-10 days and can resume your normal activities after four weeks.

Will There Be Any Scarring?

Yes, you will have scars from the surgery. The good news is that the incisions, though long, generally heal well, allowing you to wear tank tops and short sleeve shirts without fear of noticeable scars. The scars will fade over time, though they will not completely disappear. The position and length of the scars you can expect will be demonstrated at you consultation.
