Even Out Your Skin With Microdermabrasion Treatments
Your skin goes through many changes throughout life. It gets scars from injuries, stretches and shrinks from pregnancy or weight loss, and suffers from sun damage. There is also a loss of collagen as you age. All these can cause your skin to be uneven or discolored.
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical treatment that can be used to treat sun damage, light scarring, or discoloration by lightly sanding off layers of skin. The benefits of microdermabrasion include:
- Refreshing the skin through exfoliation
- Treatment of acne and blackheads
- Reduction of scars from acne, stretch marks, or injuries
- Evening out the pigmentation of the skin
- Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
- Boosting of collagen to rejuvenate the skin and give you a more youthful complexion
The procedure is very simple and effective. It can be performed alone or in combination with other facial treatments. We usually recommend multiple 60-minute sessions so you can reap the full benefit of the treatment.
Our skin specialist will use a device similar to a very fine sand blaster or tipped wand. These devices are covered in microparticles, which are moved across your skin in slow, even motions. The microparticles gently remove all the superficial skin cells. You may feel a slight scratching, but it won’t be painful. A vacuum is attached to the particle device, which sucks up any exfoliated skin and loose crystals.
This procedure is non-surgical, so there’s no down time, no recovery, and very minimal risks. Your skin may be a little red or swollen for a few hours following the treatment. It will be more sensitive to the sun, so it is recommended that you use extra sunscreen and moisturizer after the procedure while your skin takes time to recover.
